Wash Day

Yesterday I washed my hair and I have listed the steps I took below:

  • I prepoo with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and EVOO along with 2 drops of peppermint mint [to mask the scent] for two (2) hours.

  • After which, I mixed ORS Replenishing Pak, Aphogee 2 minute, Queen Helene Super Cholesterol, 1 teaspoon of JBCO, 1 teaspoon of EVCO and 1 teaspoon of Hot 6 Oil and added to my hair.
  • I then co-washed with Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner. After which I did a hot oil treatment with Queen Helene Placenta and then roller-set my hair.

Each time I wash my hair or make a change to my regime or purchase a new hair product, I document it in my HHJ journal. I record the products which were used (shampoo, conditioner, oils, etc.) and the method I used to style my hair after washing it.

Below is a screenshot of the Excel spreadsheet.

Welcome

I've always grown up being told that my hair would never grow. My hair was short, light, kinky but still had some texture in some parts.  My sister always had the length but she never took good care of it. At the age of 21, I decided to jheri-curl my hair and then at the age of 24 I decided to transition to natural and then relax my hair.

I was excited when I went to relax my hair as it took me one year to gain 3 inches of natural hair :( . However, I was sorely disappointed when I left the hairdresser, as my hair was under-processed and shorter than before. I thank God for that incident because it forced me to research how I could take better care of my hair.
Today my hair is at shoulder-length and growing.

Join me on this journey!!
